Lights Out Heartland, led by DarkSky Missouri, encourages business and the public to turn off their lights during spring and fall migration. The initiative spans across multiple states, from Arkansas to Iowa.
DarkSky International is partnering with the National Audubon Society to continue our critical work in protecting the night sky from light pollution. DarkSky International's focus on protecting the night from light pollution aligns with Audubon's mission of protecting birds and the places they need by conserving critical habitat, including the sky, making the two organizations an excellent fit.
The mission of DarkSky Missouri is to raise awareness about light pollution issues in Missouri, promote quality outdoor lighting, protect our natural environment and our beautiful night sky, and educate the public how reducing light pollution can lower energy costs.
