DESCRIPTION:
Gateway Arch National Park continues to present its Gateway to the Stars program, presented from May-October. Events are co-hosted by the St. Louis Astronomical Society and Dark Sky Missouri. Each monthly event will begin with an Astronomy or space-themed educational program and will be followed by a tour of the current night sky and then video views of celestial objects using amateur telescopes.

VIRTUAL PROGRAM
The Gateway to the Stars on September 18th begins at 6:30 pm central time. The first part of the program will feature a presentation by Sharolyn Anderson, PhD, from the National Park Service Natural Sounds and Night Skies.  Following this presentation,  representatives from Lights Out Heartland, a collaboration of organizations working together to keep birds safe as they migrate at night, will make presentations.  Presenters include the Saint Louis Zoo and the Missouri Chapter of the International Dark-Sky Association. The evening program will wrap-up with a Virtual Stargazing at the Gateway Arch where a Gateway Arch Sky Ranger will take you a guided tour of the September night skies using the Stellarium program.

LIVE TELESCOPE VIEWING
Also starting at 6:30 pm at the West Entrance Plaza of the Gateway Arch, FREE telescope viewing will be provided by volunteers from the St. Louis Astronomical Society. Telescope viewing is subject to cancellation due to weather. Call 314-655-1750 ext. 472 that evening for an update if you aren't sure about the weather.
